1st Grade Q3 Curriculum for Week 7, 2/24-2/28

Reading– Students are reading Benchmark Unit 8. For shared reading, the texts, “Why the Sun live in the Sky” and “A Walk on the Moon”, will be read and used for discussion to answer the question: How are “Why the Sun live in the Sky” and “A Walk on the Moon” different?

Grammar – We are continuing to work on editing by using special marks to rewrite our work the correct way.

Writing– Students will be taking a Narrative writing test. Example of sentence starters for each part are:

  • Bold Beginning: One _____ day, not so long ago, ________. Let me tell you about ______. Have you ever _______.
  • Mighty Middle: First, _________. Then, __________. After that, _______. Finally, ________.
  • Exciting Ending: I can’t wait to __________again! Do you want to ________ like me?

Math– We will continue to learn about Chapter 7-Comparing Numbers. Please review 10 more and 10 fewer on the hundreds chart.

Social Studies/Science– Students are learning about the American Symbols. Please ask your child to share what they know about some of the U.S. symbols like the White House and Mount Rushmore.
